We had a basic room without a fridge, and the AC broke on day two, though we were checking out that day anyway. Staff were friendly, and both the room and pools were clean. Construction was going on, but it didn’t get in the way of our stay. There are some really nice parts here, so it could be a diamond in the rough. Fine for a couple of nights 🙂

We spent a week here because the rate was affordable for a hotel with access to such a lovely, magical beach. We could use the sunbeds and umbrella at Coral beach every day, and there was also a pool and sunbeds up on the beach. The room was clean and got cleaned daily. Breakfast was available for an extra charge. Just be clear about the beach fee: if you want access to the beach area belonging to the hotel, you pay a fee. Coral beach is free for the hotel’s own guests. I’ve seen reviews complaining about this, but that’s how it works. The location gets five stars from me. We watched the sunset every day and woke up to ocean views.
We paid 150 pesos per person for package 2, which was supposed to include a hamburger and a beer, and got a voucher at reception. At the beach restaurant, when we tried to use it, they changed the deal. Instead, we were given two beers they chose and two waters, with no hamburgers. No apology, either. The staff were really rude. What a dishonest way to do business. Avoid it, we won’t be back.
We felt intimidated and unsafe when hotel staff physically stopped us while we were walking along the beach and demanded 500 pesos per person to pass. We ended up paying just to avoid a confrontation, since it felt like there was no other way through. To me, that felt like extortion, not a legitimate hotel rule. My understanding is that beaches in Mexico are public and that blocking shoreline access or charging people to walk there is illegal. Travelers should know about this practice. A hotel that treats the public this way doesn’t deserve their business.
This place felt like an abandoned project someone was still trying to make money from. Half the property looked deserted, with unfinished construction everywhere, and the whole place had an unsettling horror movie feel. The slides were grimy, rusted and deteriorating. They clearly weren’t operating, and I wondered whether someone had been hurt on them before they were shut down. Leaving them looming over the property felt disturbing and negligent. Service was awful, too. Staff were missing, unhelpful, or rude, and seemed uninterested in solving problems or maintaining the place. The property gave me the impression of neglect and possible financial trouble. They also charge for beach access, even though you can walk to the same beach from Bacocho for free. It felt like a money grab aimed at tourists who don’t know that. Book somewhere else, and walk to Bacocho beach instead.
