Mantra Hotel Boutique

We stayed a couple of nights at the end of our Oaxaca trip, in one of the nicer rooms, and loved it. The decor was stylish and high quality, the bed was super comfortable, and the rooftop pool area was a lovely, breezy place to hang out. You can even swim odd-shaped lengths in the pool. The location felt perfect, one block from the main drag and one from the beach, though you can hear adjacent bars. I’d highly recommend it. The front desk staff were lovely and breakfast was pretty good. I’d echo the feedback about the bar staff, though. One left empty drinks, untidy loungers, and towels for an hour while I swam; the other was kind of rude. Management should know, since they can affect the experience. For our first trip to Puerto Escondido, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay. We were right on the beach and within walking distance of everything in La Punta. The samsara room had a private jacuzzi, which we used several times, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The whole place felt like a serene oasis in a busy little beach town. Luca at the pool bar became a good friend, and we’ll miss him very much. His attention to detail with cocktails and non alcoholic drinks made each visit to the bar exciting. He made us feel so well taken care of, sharing local recommendations and fresh foods. We’ll certainly come back to mantra next time we’re in puerto escondido. If you’re thinking of going, don’t hesitate to book a room at mantra. Tell Luca we say hello :)

For the price and the standard this place claims to offer, I expected much better, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was limited to a little fruit, some juice, and a few slices of toast. Food service overall needs serious improvement, and the barman with bleached hair was consistently rude and negative.

Diego, the bartender, really made our stay memorable. He was attentive, personable, and talented, and his kindness and energy made us feel so welcome. His drinks were amazing, too. Every staff member we met was professional, friendly, and committed to making the stay special. The warm hospitality and attention to detail stood out. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the property was beautiful, and the service throughout was outstanding. We left feeling refreshed and cared for. We can’t wait to return, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fabulous stay in Puerto Escondido. 🌴🍹
