The owners were friendly, and this was the least expensive place in the area. But if you can afford to stay elsewhere, I would. My wife was skeptical about my choice and turned out to be right. We were split between two rooms placed as far apart as possible, and only learned on arrival that the property has two floors. The top room took a lot of road noise from the nearby highway. Downstairs was quieter thanks to a one-story building blocking some of it, but that room had a very unpleasant smell. The staircase was poorly lit and felt dangerous after dark, so anyone with mobility issues should avoid this place. The rooms are basic, with uncomfortable beds and pillows, and the outlets were hidden behind the mattress. At the outside restaurant, the food was overpriced and seemed reheated, and mosquitoes were everywhere. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were friendly, though it was a buffet behind the counter with nothing made to order. They only have instant coffee.

I’d absolutely come back here. For what we paid, the room was just what we needed, and once we were inside the gates the place felt lovely, quaint, and welcoming. The highway location is a little strange, and I was hesitant about the price since I’ve only paid $60 for a hotel once before, in Bolivia. The room had that humid smell you often get in warm climates, though I’ve noticed it even at the $1000-a-night Excellence resort. A young gentleman really wanted us to enjoy ourselves. Tequila, mezcal, and cervezas kept coming, along with a delicious plate of chicken, rice, and a deep-fried cheese-stuffed pepper. It could have been warmer, and it was definitely spicy. In the morning, the same gentleman made me instant coffee, which I’m fine with, and offered breakfast, but we had to get to the train station. There was a big party that night with loud music and a rap battle. It went very late, so keep that in mind if you need quiet. I had earplugs and didn’t mind, and I don’t think it happens every day. The pool looked great, but an unusually cold 15 C day kept me out of it. Would definitely return, without a doubt. A+, *****.

What a lovely find. The lush grounds were a treat, and the room was clean and beautiful. Service was excellent, with a smile, and the staff were exemplary. It’s affordable and not far from the Tren Maya or Cancun airport. There are also a couple of nice little restaurant and bar areas. I’ll be back.

The location made getting around difficult. The hotel sits right by a dusty highway with constant traffic noise, even in the rooms. There are no restaurants within walking distance, taxis are hard to find at night, and neither rideshare nor food delivery operates there, so leaving meant facing high transport fees. Before booking, I had agreed with the owners/managers, Laura and Victor, that we’d get three local rides during our two-day stay. We prepaid, and I wasn’t expecting a private driver. After we arrived and paid, they didn’t honor that arrangement and charged extra for transportation instead. We were also charged over $40 USD for a basic frozen taquito dinner, which seemed excessive for the quality. The advertised tequila tour wasn’t available, and there was no working bar during our stay. The experience felt misleading and poorly managed. I strongly recommend getting all transportation and amenity details in writing before booking.

The highway right next door was convenient for the airport, but traffic was loud at all times except after 3am. Throughout our 13-day stay, my friend and I often felt like a bother when asking for basic things like towels, even though we shared a room. Other guests seemed to get more attentive service. I can’t say for sure why we were treated differently, but as a Black guest I couldn’t help noticing the contrast, and it made me uncomfortable. Several promised amenities were missing: no swim-up bar, bartender, public kitchen, washer, or dryer, despite the website and original pamphlets listing them when we booked. The day before we left, I noticed newly printed pamphlets with a different layout that had removed many of those amenities. Cleanliness was a repeated problem. We were given stained, dirty sheets and blankets several times, which was unacceptable, especially on a long stay. We also went five days without hot water. I first thought it might be our room’s location, but staff seemed surprised when I asked and said they’d take care of it. We were out all day, and it still wasn’t fixed when we came back. When I asked to move rooms, I was told at first there were none available and asked who had said I could move. About ten minutes later, that same staff member arrived with keys to another room, so it could have been handled sooner. The manager, Laura (I believe), was generally unwelcoming unless money was being spent, and the place felt very money-driven. A staff member once handed me two bottles of water without saying anything, so I assumed they were complimentary. Hours later, when I went to buy more water, I saw I’d been charged almost $9 for the first two without being told. That felt dishonest. If I’d known beforehand, I would have used a different card, or perhaps not bought them at all. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I’d recommend confirming everything in writing before booking.
