Rancho Sak-Ol

Edgar made our arrival smooth and relaxed, and the staff kept helping us whenever we needed something. The hotel feels natural and sits very close to the sea. Breakfast was delicious, and we look forward to coming back.

The ocean view is beautiful, and the place is generally quiet. Reception staff were friendly, and breakfast was decent. There are a lot of puddles on the way there, though, the bathroom sink doesn't drain, and there's no soundproofing.

It feels secluded because it's a walk from the town center, and you can stroll along the beach, though you can't follow the beach all the way into town. I wouldn't expect women to enjoy walking the road at night, so I'd suggest having a car, or treating this as a quiet retreat where you cook for yourself. It's a lovely, peaceful place with attentive staff. Breakfast supplies are there, the coffee is great in the morning, and you can use the kitchen all day. There's plenty of very hot shower water, maybe too much. The hot tap got too hot to touch, so be careful.

The beach was ugly, the shower barely trickled, and the place is falling apart. They call breakfast included, but you have to cook it yourself. Service was terrible, with staff acting as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay. This was the worst hotel experience I've had. We checked out a day early and paid for a real hotel instead. We'd rather lose the money than stay another second, and they did nothing to make things better. It definitely seemed to be run by people with no business experience.
