El Capitan Resort

The upstairs terrace was a highlight, the views from up there are spectacular. Dave was a great host, and our family had a wonderful time at El Capitan.

The deck has a beautiful ocean view, and there’s a sauna and hot tubs too. El Capitan Boutique was a phenomenal stay, with rooms that were spotless and modern. I’d recommend it to anyone vacationing near Rosarito.

Our suite, " panda roja", had its own theme and a patio facing the ocean, with great views. The rooms were spacious, and everything was very clean, including the hallways and amenities. My daughter especially loved the top floor, swimming in the infinity pool and relaxing in the jacuzzi. There are grills up there for BBQs too. It’s a quiet spot with parking on site, and the owner is usually around to help. The prices and views make this place feel like a hidden gem. Puerto nuevo is 6 minutes away for lobster and souvenir shopping, Tijuana is 40 min away, and ensenada, where the port is, is 1 hours away. I’d recommend it for a family trip, a romantic getaway, or just a break.

We booked three nights, but only slept there one night and were still charged for all three. When we arrived, nobody answered the phone or gave us any rental information. After waiting for many hours, I had to sleep in my truck with my two daughters and wife until sunrise. Then the owner, who lives on the property, finally opened his door and answered our questions. We found out someone else had been given our room. He put us in the love suit and gave my daughters an inflatable mattress. His attitude was really bad when I asked for the Wi-Fi password or any information. He never gave us a room code, so I had to leave the door open while I went to visit Ensenada. The place felt really scary the whole time. I kept worrying I’d come back out and find my Toyota tundra missing. It made for a stressful vacation. I wouldn’t recommend it. Another family had to sleep outside the day before us because they got their room code but not the code for the main building door. This place needs a lot more organization if families are going to have a good, safe, happy visit.
