Puerto Nuevo Baja Hotel & Villas

Alma was really accommodating, and they greeted us warmly as soon as we arrived, explaining what was available. We could park right in front of our suite. The kids loved the hotel zoo, where they got to feed and pet the animals. We also had Sunday brunch. It was delicious, clean, and had plenty of variety. The cooks served the food, so there wasn’t cross-contamination, if you know what I mean. Our friendly servers took care with our family’s allergies, too. 10/10.

There’s no beach access, and only two lounge chairs for the whole hotel, which was annoying. The playground is large but definitely needs several repairs. There are two big pools and one indoor kiddie pool. They’ve also added a feeding zoo with about four cages so far, which is a fun treat. Check-in was extremely friendly and fast. At checkout, though, the employee was critical and rude to us, while being friendly to people dressed more high-end. The food and drinks weren’t good. Portales restaurants are 5 minutes away and well worth the drive.

The view was good, and being next to a Calimax was convenient, but the whole place seemed due for a revamp. My room had an odd shape, a broken window and curtain, and people in the pool area could look straight in. That felt a little concerning for security. Most rooms seemed humid, and they offered broken fans. There was no phone in the room, though the Wi-Fi worked well. The buffet looked nice but tasted bland. There are lots of stairs, and I didn’t see any nearby space for people with disabilities. You’d have to walk around the whole hotel. You can’t get to the beach, so swimming means using the pools.

The ocean-facing rooms had great views. Getting down to them means dealing with steps, though, and there are no elevators. Check the photos, they show it better than I can describe.
