Hotel Plaza Peñasco

It's basically just a room with a TV. The bed was comfortable, but bring your own soap. I'd stay again if I wanted a cheap room.

The place was clean, had no bugs, and someone cleaned the room every day. The pool was great, grills were set up nearby, and security was on site each night. The office stayed open 24 hours if we needed extra towels. Staff were polite, and they even showed us the room before check-in. One couple saw their room and left, which probably saved them the hassle of asking for a refund. We had to leave a 200 peso deposit for the keys and TV remote, but got it back at checkout. That made sense once I remembered this is a spring break party spot for college kids. It's an older, worn place, and I'm sure it was quite something in its heyday. A small fridge in the room would've been nice, but it's affordable.

The rooms are clean and the price is low, but the hot water lasts about 60 seconds, no exaggeration. Wi-Fi in the room was practically nonexistent.

This was a fun place to stay, with families enjoying the pool after the daytime heat. It felt true to the area, and I only needed one night with air conditioning, which is what I got. I'd stay again if I return. The woman at the front desk spoke very fluent English and had me look at the room before paying. She was upfront about the no-refund policy, and took the time to explain that I should turn my parking pass over when driving downtown so no one could find out where I was staying. They accepted cash in USD. Don't expect luxury, breakfast, coffee in the room, or cable.
