We had a great family stay, kids included, at this reasonably priced resort right on the beach in the quaint town of Quimixto. The tropical setting was beautiful, with lots of foliage, butterflies, and birds. The atmosphere was relaxed, the room and facilities simple and clean, and the staff friendly. The beach was very nice for swimming, playing, boogie boarding, surfing, and kayaking, and we even saw a few whales in winter. The resort provided boogie boards, a surfboard, kayak, and volleyball at no charge. The restaurant is right on the beach, though we mostly preferred the food in town. It’s a few minutes’ walk from Quimixto pier and other restaurants. There’s a lovely waterfall you can swim in after a 30-minute hike, and a very scenic 30-minute coastal hike to Las Animas beach. Staff arranged boat transport to PV and let us leave our luggage at their other hotel there, so we could walk around the city on the way back before going to the airport. WiFi was spotty, there was almost no cell service, and after ordering, the wait was long.

Quimixto still feels like a little village where kids play outside all day and dogs chase birds or splash in the waves. Getting there means taking a boat from Boca de T., and Amaca is probably the best way to experience this quiet place in the jungle before it changes, as people say Yelapa already has. The resort itself is a bit worn, though the original layout was good and the rooms are still nice. The staff are very friendly, if not especially efficient. The beach is great for watching surfers. The beach restaurant opens at 10, but you can get filter coffee upstairs in the main building from 8. In the evening the food choices get very basic, and the beach places close early. Walk about five minutes into the village for Dora’s place, or a nearby spot on her day off. We had the place to ourselves for two days, then a few more rooms filled over the weekend. A small group partied until 5 AM, and the hotel didn’t do much about it. If you’re looking for somewhere remote and a little adventurous, this could be a good fit.

We ended up extending our stay, and the owners were welcoming and very accommodating about it. The whole resort has a relaxed, down to earth feel, and it’s family friendly too. We spent four lovely nights here at the start of the new year. The staff were incredibly friendly, and I especially liked reading or lounging in the hammocks right by the ocean. The beachfront restaurant and bar had great fish tacos as well. A quiet, restful place to recharge.

Getting here by panga and then walking to the hotel feels like arriving in a hidden bit of paradise, well away from the usual crowds. There’s a restaurant, pool, spa, and a lovely beach for swimming, surfing, or just relaxing. The staff were some of the friendliest I’ve met, and our room was clean and well kept. It’s a great place to get away from city life and spend time in nature. There’s also a short walk to a beautiful waterfall. Definitely worth checking out.

The place itself feels like a little paradise, and you’ve got an amazing spot here. It seems simple to let people enjoy the natural setting, though. I’d love to hear the ocean while reading with a drink on the beach, and see the stars at night with the lights off. The music in the beach restaurant was too loud for me, and the selection was really bad. We were trying to get away from the bad taste of Vallarta and find somewhere peaceful.
