Hotel Casa Iguana Mismaloya

We only stayed a short time, and it was decent for a budget hotel. The friendly staff, dedicated parking, clean pool, and walking distance to the beach were all pluses. The rooms were spacious but dated and a bit smelly. The water was hot and the AC worked, though the WiFi was so-so. We didn't have noise or smoke issues, and it seemed the other guests weren't smokers either. It's pet-friendly too. We liked being away from PV while still close enough to go out for a date if we wanted. If you're after a reasonably priced place in a generally quiet area, this could suit you.

The grounds are beautiful, tucked into the jungle, and the pool area is amazing. There's a convenience store on site and tacos across the street from a local family. A short walk gets you to the bus stop for PV or Boca, and there are nice little restaurants up the road toward the zoo. Our room was cute, the AC worked amazingly, and the water pressure and hot water were great. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, and housekeeping made sure we had what we needed. I love this hotel and will definitely return.

We booked two nights but stayed only one and got no refund. There was loud music until 2 am, and neighbors smoked on the terrace beside our window. It's not allowed, but the rule wasn't enforced. The shower was clogged, and a sheet was stained and had an old bandaid on it. One of the worst hotels we've stayed at for the price.

We enjoyed our few days here. It's a safe, quiet, budget-friendly hotel with a great view, a pool, and a nice, cool jacuzzi. The two-bedroom apartment was dated but very clean, with AC, a fan, cable TV, a living room, a kitchen, a fridge, a stove, and cookware. Staff and service were good, and the restaurant food was good too. You're close to the beach, mountain, river, and lots of local restaurants. We hiked up the road behind the hotel and swam in the private river at the top of the mountain, which was very nice. We loved the safe local Mexican neighborhood, including Tony's famous restaurant on the hill.
