A very affordable hostel for a few days in Puerto Vallarta, with a great location and friendly staff. It’s laid out like a typical Mexican house: rooms upstairs around a central garden. There are enough toilets and showers, with a good supply of hot water. The beds are comfortable, and there are hammocks, reclining chairs, a small kitchen with basic supplies, a refrigerator, and a terrace and garden. It needs cleaning and maintenance, but for the price, it’s still good value.

This cozy, cheap hostel was full when I stayed. The outdoor spaces are terrific for hanging out, and the location is fantastic, on the edge of the Versalles neighborhood and one short block from Hwy 200. There’s a major bus stop and several banks nearby. The host, who owns the place, was friendly and helpful, though a bit lackadaisical. Cleanliness fell somewhere between clean and disgusting, so whether you’re comfortable will depend on your tolerance. The other guests were an eclectic bunch, and spending time with them was the best part of my stay.

Marko's beautiful house has a relaxing feel, and the owner is very laid-back and fun. It’s not a party hostel, which was just what I wanted. I meant to stay a few days and ended up there for two weeks. Buses are very close and go to the city centre or airport. I definitely recommend it.

This clean, friendly hostel is north of the crowds, with a mix of international guests. The beach is a seven-minute walk, and there are great restaurants nearby. The hosts, Marco and Viking Dog, are charming. Zona Romantica is scenic and an easy bus ride away.

The owner is super nice, and for the price it’s a good place for one night. The bathrooms and showers could be better, though, and the WiFi needs work. There should be a router upstairs, otherwise you can’t really use the WiFi unless you’re near the kitchen.
