We booked room 503 at the last minute, around 5 pm the day before check-in, and it turned out to be exactly what we needed. We’d first booked a beachfront hotel on the next block, thinking that was what we wanted, but it wasn’t relaxing at all. V177 was quiet and clean, and the room, bathroom, bed, sheets, and furniture were all very nice. We had a mountain view and a deck where we enjoyed morning coffee. The appliances were good, the water got nice and hot, and the tray ceilings had hidden ambient lighting. It was 100% what we wanted from the trip. We may have lucked out because of the time of year, but we loved it. The rooftop was a big part of the stay. The views are incredible, and there are several private spots up there. The mostly glass gym faces the ocean and mountains. Away from the pool are chaise lounges where it’s quieter, with sun or filtered shade under the pergola. There’s also a fully roofed lounge with a big outdoor sectional, ceiling fan, and TV. The outdoor kitchen has a gas grill, fridge and freezer, sink, and lots of bar counter space for making food or serving drinks, but you do have to reserve it. The pool and hot tub were very clean. Local birds liked bathing at the edge and were chatty, friendly, and unafraid of people, but didn’t harass us like seagulls. We never saw a seagull. Pelicans flying in formation down the beach were beautiful, and I think there were frigates gliding along in a V formation too. A wonderful atmosphere. It’s literally one block back from the beach, with amazing 360-degree views. There are local food marts and breakfast on the same block, and it’s walkable to everything you need, including great shopping. We walked everywhere and never felt uncomfortable. The shopping was amazing, especially for the fellas, and people were so polite and friendly that we’re considering retiring here in the next few years. The lobby was clean, and the open interior area felt tropical, with a gorgeous fountain. There was a gated entrance and someone always at the front desk during daylight hours. The pool was quiet, everyone respected the peace and kept to themselves, and there were plenty of chaise lounges, umbrellas, and covered areas. I think there were six of us there at most, with at least 20 loungers. You can choose sun or shade. It was more than we asked for, and very impressive. I don’t think we’ll stay anywhere else when we visit PVR. PVR is inexpensive for a stay, and the food is off the charts, though also expensive. Cocktails add up, but that’s true everywhere. Absolutely recommended!
