The only staff member who was any help was the bellboy. He kept trying to fix our TV, but we never had one during our four-night stay. The rest of the staff, especially housekeeping, were anything but friendly. They even entered our room with the do-not-disturb sign up. The noise was awful: there’s no sound barrier, and the partying and screaming from the lobby were too much. The night before checkout, a party at the park was so loud that our bed vibrated for hours. We hadn’t brought earplugs. The bed only had a sheet, and it wasn’t comfortable. Towels were ripped and frayed. The shower looked lovely, but on the second floor there was barely enough water pressure to wash my hair. It worked fine for my husband’s little bit of hair. Toiletries, if you can call them that, meant a bar of soap, so ladies, bring your own. The garbage dump beetroot that’s been there for the last couple years is still growing and is such an eyesore. We’ve stayed here before, but this will be our last time. It made me feel crawly climbing into bed. The place is so expensive, and the 5th of December area is much better. They don’t let stragglers in with other guests, which was one good thing. The all inclusive band they make you wear seems to tell vendors you’re not local. Three of us went without wearing it the whole stay and were never asked about it, so it felt like a waste of time, money, and plastic.

During Puerto Vallarta’s recent security crisis, the city was effectively shut down. Roads were blocked, businesses closed, flights were canceled, and tourists were stranded with nowhere to go. The airport couldn’t be reached, and the U.S. Embassy advised people to shelter in place. Hotel Eloisa still charged guests for every extra night they were forced to stay, and raised its rates during the crisis. We heard firsthand from travelers at the airport that many other hotels in Puerto Vallarta let guests stay without extra charge or issued full refunds for the forced extension. That’s how guests should be treated in a crisis. Hotel Eloisa did the opposite, making money from people who had no choice but to remain in a dangerous and frightening situation. That is not hospitality. It’s price gouging during a disaster. I would never recommend this hotel. Anyone considering it should think about how it treats guests when it really matters.

Don’t stay here. For what they charge, the place is ridiculously outdated, and you won’t get a balcony of your own because they’re all shared. The staff are rude and nasty, and if you bring a visitor they’ll chase after you like you’re a criminal. They act like you’re staying at the sharaton, but you can find much better hospitality at other hotels.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and housekeeping did a great job, getting to the room early in the day. The A/C worked well too. The main letdown was the shaky internet in the room. It worked well in common areas and only partly in our room, though we’d been told this before arriving. In 2025, reliable room internet shouldn’t be rocket science. We had a nice junior suite with mountain and partial ocean views. Be careful when booking, since some rooms may face only the internal courtyard. The suite had a large fridge, but the kitchen equipment was basic compared with U.S. suite hotels. That wasn’t an issue for us, with so many food options right outside. There are two pools, one quite small on the roof and another a bit larger on the ground or first floor near the lobby. They don’t provide beach or pool towels, so bring your own or take them from the room. The hotel is good in many ways. It’s in Zona Romantica, steps from the beach and plenty of restaurants and bars, and built in the traditional regional style. We’ll definitely return.
