Hotel Suites Mar Elena

It felt like a friendly hotel, and the staff were nice. The free breakfast was simple but good, and appreciated. The price was very reasonable, but the floor felt gritty and sticky, and the fan, safe, and AC in my room were broken, so I can’t rate it higher.

I booked one night through Priceline in January. I’d seen the notice about a fumigation before arriving, but it didn’t work, and I was bitten by bed bugs that evening. I told the hotel manager and Priceline, but was dismissed and received no refund. After months without a response, I decided to share what happened in an honest review.

I had a great time having coffee in the ground-floor sitting area each morning. It has a fountain, plants, and birds, and the rooftop pool was a relaxing place to spend time. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, and the price was fantastic. You can hear traffic since the hotel is beside the main road, but I got used to it and it never bothered me. I’d definitely stay again, and highly recommend it.

The suite had a fridge, stove, sink, and balcony, and was better than the room I’d had on my first stay. But the fan, TV, and AC didn’t work. The AC started leaking and quit the next morning. Also, on my way out at 1am, the night security guard set me and my girlfriend up with a police officer. I had to pay him $20 for smoking a joint on the street. If you stay, I’d pick one of the simple rooms instead. The bed was bigger, and the TV worked and had Netflix. F this place.
