Mayan Palace at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta

This may suit you if you're fine with very high prices, limited access to resort facilities, and feeling stuck inside the compound without being able to explore. It's a beautiful property, but so large that getting around can be difficult for older guests and families with children. Many guests aren't allowed to use all the amenities, and no one tells you upfront. Food and drinks cost at least twice what you'd pay elsewhere in Mexico, and the privilege card isn't worth the paper it's printed on. You're restricted to their taxis, which are highly inflated, and they don't allow Uber or other tour companies into the resort. It's a long walk just to get out on foot. Reading other unhappy guests' reviews, I'd guess the replies are AI-generated. They offer the usual apology for shortcomings or overcharges, but never compensation. Be forewarned.

The nicest thing here was the staff, except for the passive aggressive timeshare salespeople. The rooms are subpar: there were no screens on the doors to keep bugs out, the air conditioning was horrible, cookware was minimal, and our room was extremely far from the nearest pool and beach. Vidanta feels like one big money pit. It seems to intentionally tuck its “partners” deep in the jungle and charge astronomical prices in exchange for a safe experience in Mexico. I doubt this model will last as more people realize how safe some places in Mexico are and how easy and affordable Airbnb can be.

We've had a timeshare here and great experiences in the past, though they always try to sell you more and pressure you. This year was a nightmare. My dad is severely handicapped and can't get out of his scooter, but they didn't give him an ADA room. For a whole week, he couldn't use the bathroom or shower. Completely unacceptable. We booked nine months ahead, had two suites reserved, and spent thousands, but the service was terrible. Never go at New Year's. It's crowded, with too many people and awful service. Nobody would help us, and we faced several major problems. They're going downhill fast. It feels like money matters more than a luxury experience for guests.

The Joy Squad at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta is wonderful. Everyone is friendly and always ready to make your vacation more fun. Jesus Valdez is the best, he made our stay so enjoyable. We'll definitely look for him next year!
