We booked ground-floor apartment #108 only three days before arriving, just ahead of the busy season. Samson Waters Team did a great job explaining what to expect, and answered our questions through the Airbnb app's messaging. The building seemed to have a mix of full-time owners and temporary renters. It was open, quiet, clean, and well maintained. It had everything we wanted in a luxury condo building, including a rooftop pool, hot tub, gym, plenty of seating, an eating and BBQ area, and rooftop bathrooms. We hadn't planned on using the pool, but the hurricane that narrowly missed Puerto Vallarta left the beaches unswimmable, so the pool was perfect on those days and for cooling off after activities. We chose a ground-floor apartment over a higher unit with a view and balcony for three reasons: easy access from the lobby without elevators, privacy as the only unit on that floor overlooking a small inner courtyard with a pleasant artificial waterfall, and the hope it would be less hot and humid. The AC units turned out to be lifesavers. There was a desk host most hours, security cards for late nights, and monitoring in the shared areas that added to the sense of safety. For a small apartment, it had everything we needed and more: a huge bed, big enough for us to starfish without touching, TVs in both “rooms,” two ACs, a large fridge, and a cooking area with enough cookware and dinnerware. There were plenty of towels, and the washer and dryer were essential for carry-on travelers. The large shower was nice, too, for conserving water. We're not big partiers anymore, so being in the heart of the beautiful Zona Romantica worked well. Beaches, restaurants, nightlife, activities, and guided-tour pickup spots were all within walking distance. We ate out some, and also bought fresh fruit, produce, fish, and meat at Municipal Market Emiliano Zapata, just up the street. I'd recommend the place to anyone wanting to be in the old town near everything, with useful amenities for staying in and some quiet when needed. I'd go back.
