Hotel Meson de Mita

This isn’t a chain hotel. The location is right on the beach, with a nice patio eating area about 50 feet from the water. It’s private, except in the evenings when restaurant customers can make it noisy. Mornings are perfect. There’s surfing nearby and some snorkeling, though the snorkeling isn’t that great.

It’s a quiet hotel with really nice decor, a clean pool, friendly staff, and amazing sunsets. There are shops and restaurants along the nearby strip, some good value and some pricey. The location works well if you have a car or other transport. Without it, you’re stuck going back and forth by Uber or taxi. If you want a few days to unwind and get away from the fast pace, this is the place.

My room was just 15 feet from the pool and 50 feet from the sandy beach. The rooms are quaint, clean, and comfortable, and the staff are attentive around the clock and very friendly. There’s a world-class, five-star restaurant on site and also a cute breakfast spot for guests. The pool is clean, and you’re close to shops, restaurants, and the taxi station. Free parking on site. A+!

The food and service at MINA were impeccable, probably the highlight of our trip. We’d stay here again, just not in a room above the restaurant. It got really loud late at night where we were, though we were happy with the stay overall. This was our first trip to Mexico, and we loved what we saw online. The beach is rocky, which we knew and didn’t mind. Our air conditioning wasn’t working, but the front desk staff fixed it. We’re pretty low-maintenance travelers. I did find it odd that there were no washcloths. I assumed everyone used them, but apparently not everywhere outside the US. We managed and know to bring our own next time.
