Excellence Playa Mujeres

We had such a good time on our second visit to this Excellence and already plan to come back. The place was spotless, down to seeing a worker cleaning rocks, and service was thoughtful throughout. Nathalie and Angel made the entertainment fun, and I enjoyed both the workout and the time with fitness instructor Tanya. On the beach, Josue and Rubi were quick to help and did so much to make us comfortable. Their English was perfect. Thanks to everyone for a great vacation.

Sully and Emiliano on the excellence beach made each day feel special, with drinks by the water, thoughtful surprises, and constant attention. Their warmth, professionalism, and upbeat energy really showed how much they care about looking after guests. Lucy was also part of the welcome that made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. All three were accommodating and genuinely hospitable. This trip was unforgettable, and they’re a big reason we can’t wait to return.

The service was five-star all around, friendly and helpful without anyone hovering, and the low-key getaway we wanted is exactly what we got. We stayed in 7418, an Excellence Club Suite with a Private Plunge Pool Terrace in Building 7 at Excellence Playa Mujeres. The room was clean, comfortable and well-appointed, with a lovely ocean view from the private terrace and plunge pool. A hallway ran past the end of our balcony, and people often stopped there to take photos. That felt awkward when we were sitting outside, and the jacuzzi window faced the hallway, so using it was difficult. The evening music also seemed to funnel up to our room at full volume each night. If you turn in early, you may want to ask for a room farther from Prelude Bar, where the live music is. The Excellence Club upgrade was worth it for the food. Magna, which is club-exclusive, was our best meal. The steaks at The Grill were very good, though the restaurant is loud. Lobster House was a nice lunch option, especially for its fish tacos. Chez Isabelle disappointed us: the food was cold and lacked flavor. Breakfast room service was consistently excellent, whether we ate on the balcony or took it up to the terrace. The bars were very good too. We brought insulated cups and they kept drinks cold longer, so I’d suggest bringing some. I loved the mangolada and the pink gin cocktail at Cielo. One disappointment was that the hot tubs weren’t heated, especially since it was a little cooler than usual for that time of year. Other guests noticed it too. I’d recommend the resort.

I spent my solo birthday trip mostly at the beach, and Jesus and Josue on the beach concierge team made it memorable. They checked in regularly, helped set up my spot each day, and made the occasion feel special with their warmth and attention. Angel remembered exactly what I liked and kept bringing personalized non-alcoholic drinks, a lovely touch during those long, relaxed days. The spa was another highlight. The hydrotherapy and treatments left me feeling relaxed and gave me the birthday reset I wanted. The resort is beautiful, the atmosphere suits a restful getaway, and the service is strong. No place is completely perfect, but the staff really does go above and beyond to look after guests. I had a wonderful trip and would recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres to solo travelers or people coming with company.
