Hotel Astromundo

A nice little find in Reynosa. The rooms were clean and fairly priced, and breakfast and free WiFi came with the stay. Checkout isn't until 2 pm. I'll definitely stay there again next time.

I've stayed at this motel three times as someone from the United States, and it's a very good place to stay. The prices are reasonable, the room service is great, and the employees are very friendly. The parking garage is locked, so I didn't worry about someone messing with my vehicle.

The hotel isn't upscale, but for a quick stay, I don't need fancy extras. It's clean, affordable, and attentive, and my room had no problems. The bathrooms and showers are spacious, there were extra blankets, and the mini split AC worked great. There's no mini fridge or microwave, but the restaurant prices are low and meals are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had surgery, and they were able to bring meals to my room. A luggage attendant helped us too. The restaurant had a nice breakfast and delicious lunch. It's in the heart of Reynosa, and you can tell the staff work hard to provide good service for the price. I've stayed in hotels in the States at this price where I felt so unsafe I left or canceled because of crime or a dirty room. That wasn't my experience here. I was pleasantly surprised, especially after my first choice, a nearby hotel with vintage Mexico character, had closed during the pandemic. I loved this place and will return. Please remember to tip the bellhops, room service staff, and housekeepers. They appreciate it.

The only good thing was complimentary parking. The hotel was outdated and dirty, the hall smelled bad, and I even found two small wooden ice cream spoons between the sheets. The covers were old and rough, and the bathroom was nasty. The old, scary elevator only held two people at a time. Cold water wasn't working at the faucet, so we had to brush our teeth and wash our hands with hot water. I also ended up with a bug bite. I've started leaving reviews because hotel photos can be misleading. Please stay somewhere else. The night cost 900 pesos, about $45 right now, which is a lot of money in Mexico. This old hotel wasn't worth it.
