Hacienda Don Luis

The bed was filthy. When we pulled the sheets back, we found hair and other stuff. We had to switch rooms twice: the first had no windows and a smell so bad it made us gag. The rooms also lacked basic things like towels and toiletries. The jacuzzi was broken and freezing cold. We stayed June 15th and 16th, and this was hands down the worst hotel we stayed at.

The jacuzzi was out of order, and our room smelled like it had just been sprayed with bug spray. I’d booked two rooms, but the hotel put my children on the second floor, nowhere near our room. I had to beg to get them closer, and ended up accepting a room with one bed instead of two.

We paid for two nights but left after one, and they wouldn't refund the second. Our room was at the very back of the property, so reporting the problems meant risking a fall on the rough, rocky driveway, which was hard to drive on and almost impossible to walk over safely. There was no heater or phone, no toilet paper, and the bedding looked unchanged. The TV was just white noise. I would never recommend staying here or come back.

The one clean thing was the floor. The room was freezing, with no heat, just a sheet and a thin comforter. Hot water ran out before a shower was done. There was one large chair, a lamp missing its bulb and shade, unfilled holes in the walls, and drawers with missing knobs. The only window was behind something like a bookcase and held shut with a board. The key looked like it was from the 1950s, and the door seemed easy to open with a butter knife. Nothing looked like the online photos. There were two beds in a room rated for four, though only two of us stayed. The grounds had a rough, goat-trail-like road. I paid online in full for two midweek nights, then the clerk first tried to charge a $68 deposit. After I showed my reservation terms, she said the deposit was $20 for the key and TV remote. I’d rather sleep in a tent on the street than stay at this motel again. Booking services should be ashamed to list it; it hardly deserves to be called a hotel. It made Motel 6 look like a Ritz Carlton.
