Casa Qi Mazunte

The ocean views from this beautiful spot are lovely, and the staff are incredibly helpful!

Casa Qi was a favorite for us over our three nights there. Omar and the team were attentive around the clock, while the shared spaces and pool stayed spotless. The rooms were quiet, well insulated, clean, and had incredible ocean views. We especially liked the floor-to-ceiling glass doors and full window shades, which made sleeping in easier. Sunrise from there is amazing. About the uphill walk people mention, it took us three minutes and felt totally reasonable. A world-class ocean view and peace and quiet don’t come at sea level.

We’d happily stay again. The hotel is well located between Mazunte and San Augustinillo beaches, and the staff were attentive, arranged airport transport, and made sure we were looked after. They serve coffee and breakfast there too. Our room was comfortable and clean, with AC and breathtaking ocean views. I’ve seen complaints about the pool and grounds, but staff work around the clock to clean. The hotel is on a hill among flowering trees, so wind does carry some leaves and flowers into the pool. They skim the water often, though you’re still in nature. The walk uphill is a bit of a trek, but the location works well for us.

The view is gorgeous and the pool is lovely, but for the price and amenities our stay felt mediocre. The management side was strange and frustrating. I booked with Omar, who promised a confirmation email that never came, despite my asking each day. On check-in morning he said our booked room wasn’t available. We took another room for the first two days because it was too late to arrange somewhere else. Rather than acknowledge the mix-up, he told me what a great high-season rate he was giving us and how lucky we were. There was no water in the room. They comped that night, but it was still uncomfortable. We didn’t see Omar again during the week. The on-site operations manager came to collect payment, including at night. When the internet wouldn’t support a card charge, she returned the next evening and asked why I hadn’t tried paying again, without asking how the stay was going. Her manner felt invasive and aggressive. The cleaning and maintenance staff were lovely and friendly, and I’m very grateful for their attentive service.
