Axkan Express

Great staff and excellent service.

I ended up here because the hotel was included in my tour package, not because I chose it. The rooms and bathrooms are very basic, and the toilet area is especially small. When I asked for hand towels, I was told they didn’t have any, and the towels we got were old. Breakfast was included, but it was poor, just scrambled eggs and coffee. The place was clean and the service was good. Its location could be an issue, though most hotels in San Cristóbal are downtown, and this one is four blocks away. I think there are better options at a similar price.

The room was clean, and this is a nice hotel for relaxing. The staff provided excellent service, and Mary was always attentive at breakfast.

The hotel itself is fine overall, and it’s in a nice location. Still, our last night was a very bad experience. At 5:00 a.m., they started work on the first floor and began removing debris, waking several guests. We called reception to ask what was going on. They said it was scheduled work and there was nothing they could do, then hung up on us. Other guests came out and complained too, but the work went on for an hour. We couldn’t get back to sleep until after 6:00, when it finally stopped. It left us feeling that guests weren’t the place’s priority. What a shame.
