Hotel Ciudad Real Centro Histórico

There's no heat in the rooms, and winter gets really cold.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were kind, the rooms were great, and the shower was nice. The breakfast buffet was really good, too. The hotel is in a great location, though the rooms aren't very soundproof and you can clearly hear music from the street. It stopped around 21-22, so it was fine.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel's best feature for us was the restaurant. Its breakfast was so good that once we found it, we ate there every morning. We never made it for dinner because the traditional Mexican menu ends at 9 p.m. and we were busy exploring town. The central location made it easy to walk to all the beautiful places, shop for souvenirs, and pop back to the room to drop things off. It was handy as a restroom stop, too. The tradeoff is the noise from the restaurants, bars, and plaza across the street. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The only way to avoid it may be staying outside downtown, but then you'd give up the location, since everything worth seeing is downtown. We picked this hotel after reading other reviews, which mentioned the same noise and weak Wi-Fi issues at many places. Our room was clean, okay, and had comfortable beds, but the Wi-Fi kept cutting in and out, especially at night. The TV was broken at first and they fixed it after we asked.

We really enjoyed our stay, and the staff were super helpful. The hotel was very clean and right in the center, with the main plaza in front. Banks, shops, churches, bars, and restaurants were all nearby. In the evenings, we went dancing to marimba music, which started around 5 or 6 p.m. I had a misunderstanding about paying for the taxi to the airport in Tuxtla. I thought I'd told the guy to charge me, but he didn't take the payment. Apart from that, everything was enjoyable.
