The only downside for me was the dogs barking at night. I’m not a heavy sleeper, and I’d initially left the window open. If you sleep well, it probably won’t affect you. The room had air conditioning, but it was a cool evening then. Otherwise, it’s a nice place just outside downtown, with comfortable, clean rooms and a reasonably priced bar and restaurant.

This was a nightmare. We stayed one night in August, when it was 35 degrees Celsius at night, and found there was no air conditioning remote in our room, so we couldn’t turn it on. My sister had a fever, and neither of us could sleep in the extreme heat. I went looking for help in the common areas, but there was nobody looking after the hotel overnight. At reception the next morning, the representatives kindly assured me I’d get a refund for the full night. Two years and many email exchanges later, with the hotel asking me for documents and data that I provided on time, I still haven’t received it. NOT SERIOUS. I strongly suggest staying somewhere else, with more reliable people.

The location is only fair, and the beach is very far away. Even if you make it there, the ocean is rough. I didn’t see a single swimmer. There’s a noisy street, and a bar next to the hotel blasts music. Internet is very slow. The place is expensive, breakfast isn’t included and is expensive at the attached restaurant, and there’s no TV, though we didn’t miss one. There are no dressers, closets, or safe, and you can’t flush the toilet paper. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed, good shower, and plenty of outlets. There’s a nice small pool, though it isn’t heated. If you’re into Mexican art galleries and Gringo bars, this town is for you. There isn’t much else to do.

The whole experience felt thoughtfully arranged and well executed. The building is beautiful, and the rooms are comfortable with an elegant simplicity. The restaurant was excellent, and the drinks were great. My stay was memorable and thoroughly enjoyable. The hospitality was fantastic. Amanda, who handles booking, and Thomas behind the bar deserve a shout out, though every single person was welcoming, warm, and eager to help.
