The location is fantastic. The main pedestrian street is just a block away, the cathedral and central square are a few blocks on, and the market is around a 10 to 15 minute walk. There’s also a great bakery two blocks away and several nice cafes nearby. We had a private room with its own bathroom, and it felt like a boutique hotel for the price. The natural, calming decor and all the plants were lovely. The caretaker was attentive, kind, and happy to help, and gave us excellent suggestions for things to do and places to go. They can also arrange excursions if you want to book directly. The on-demand hot water worked reliably, which was a big plus, and there were handmade cleaning products in the shower and kitchen. The rooftop terrace was a real highlight. We had fresh coffee there, stretched, did light activities, or just sat and chatted. Plenty of yoga mats were available, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had an amazing stay and would absolutely come back.

Marta was a great host, attentive throughout and helpful with my questions both before and after the stay. I was there on a business trip, and the location near downtown was very convenient. The place has lots of cute touches that make it cozy and fit San Cristobal's vibe. I also appreciated finding a bucket in the shower to collect water while it warms up, and handmade cleaning products in the kitchen and shower. I really enjoyed my stay. :)

I couldn’t leave a proper review on the booking platform, and wish I’d checked here first. The location was okay, within walking distance of restaurants, and the place was clean with some nice design ideas. But my room smelled strongly damp and had hardly any ventilation. The towels were clean, but were like polyester rags and didn’t dry at all. The owner pushed her preferred tour company and her ideas about what we should see. She thinks a human zoo in the form of an indigenous village is better than natural beauty. We’d already booked tours, and she said our company was the worst, which just wasn’t true. The rules were everywhere, on walls, in booklets, on booking.com, and explained verbally, and it made the stay uncomfortable. I handed in laundry after the owner said it would be back by midday. In the evening, we got one pair of underwear back. When we asked about the rest, she said, “Oh, you have more?” We got the other items back nearly 24 hours later, with peg marks and detergent stains. Timekeeping was poor by Mexican standards, and she is of Spanish descent. I would avoid this place.

The host was unkind and dishonest, and the rooms were dirty. We asked to move, and she said we had to pay for two more nights before she’d give us another room. She gave us a clean room for one night, then told us to go back to the dirty one. She said she’d give us another room for two nights, then kicked us out and wouldn’t refund our money. In response to the host: obviously you can’t find me, because the booking was under my friend’s name. That doesn’t make you any nicer or more polite.

I took a long time to decide whether to post this awful experience. The room was full of mold and had such a strong, overwhelming smell that it was impossible to stay comfortably. I also faced remarks with an antisemitic tone, which is unacceptable anywhere, especially somewhere claiming to provide proper service. I’m posting from this profile to protect my privacy and remain anonymous. It was an unsafe, unpleasant, deeply disrespectful stay, and I won’t return.
