The chair situation by the pool was infuriating. Guests would claim chairs with their stuff and leave them empty for hours, while the staff didn’t enforce the policy we signed at check-in. I had to be there by 8am to get a seat. It created a lot of vacation anxiety that nobody wants. My room also stayed too hot for me. I couldn’t adjust the thermostat, and maintenance said it was working fine and couldn’t be set below 21 degrees. That made for rough nights, which is too warm for Mexico, in my opinion. Still, the property is beautiful and I’d probably return if a few things were tightened up. The ocean-facing room was peaceful, with a breathtaking view, though I can’t speak for rooms nearer the road. The location is convenient for the airport, the food was good, and the extra-cost restaurant on site was truly worth it to me. Poolside food was about what I expected. Room service breakfast arrived promptly and was generally right, and the room was comfy and mostly clean, with snacks and some amenities. It’s a quiet resort, with most entertainment ending by 10. Special mention to the poolside service staff, who worked hard in that heat.

We enjoyed our five days at Marquis, especially the ocean views and sunsets at dinner, which helped make the price feel fair. The resort is in great shape, though it’s showing its age and could use a refresh. It won’t feel as elegant or modern as some other places. I’ve stayed in Cabo six years in a row at an all-inclusive, and Marquis measured up in most areas. The location is great and the staff were always friendly. Pool service wasn’t the fastest, though we were there Sunday through Thursday and they may have been understaffed. Entertainment was limited on weekdays, but perhaps there are more options on other days. Dinners were good, about on par with Secrets and a little below Leblanc. The rooms were nice, a bit better than Secrets. Go with clear expectations and you should enjoy it.

The only trouble during our stay at Marquis Los Cabos Resort was the sliding doors in our Casita. Their locks didn’t hold, and the doors would open with just a little pressure. Maintenance replaced the locks, but they still weren’t fully fixed, so be careful with the doors in room 714. Other than that, we had a great time. The pool and grounds were beautiful, and the staff worked hard to provide wonderful service throughout our stay. I’d highly recommend the resort.

I loved how peaceful it was by the pool. We could sit and read without loud noise or interruptions, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The resort also had plenty of activities, with something special happening at dinner. Johny, Monty, and the entertainment team brought the fun with great shows, and Alejandro’s engaging mixology and tequila tasting class was a highlight. Our suite had a gorgeous ocean view from the balcony and was always spotless. The housekeeping staff were lovely and kept us stocked with towels, toiletries, and whatever else we needed. Servers and bartenders were incredibly friendly and accommodating. This was one of the best trips I’ve ever had, and I’m already looking forward to going back. For a laid-back stay, it’s perfect.

Our first two days were overshadowed by anxiety and lost sleep after a serious security failure. Within six hours of arriving, we returned to find our room had been accessed and left unsecured, with the deadbolt engaged from inside. Our passports, cash, and personal belongings were in the room. As two women travelling alone, we found this deeply distressing. The hotel gave us several conflicting explanations over multiple conversations. Despite assurances, no senior manager got involved right away, and we never received a clear written account of who entered the room, when, or why. Instead of addressing the failure, staff subtly shifted responsibility to us by suggesting we use the safe or Do Not Disturb. Safety is the most basic expectation at a hotel, especially one marketed as a luxury adults-only resort. There were other serious operational problems too. Before arriving, we were told all dining was booked, but the app showed nothing, so we had to rebook everything. It also listed dinners on nights when the restaurants weren’t operating, which we only learned by asking staff in person. The food was extremely disappointing for an adults-only five-star property. The pool had no quiet areas, with loud music starting around 10am every day. Food and drink waits regularly ran 30-45 minutes because there weren’t enough staff, which isn’t acceptable at this price. We were given a $75 room credit for a limited selection of items, but it wasn’t taken off the bill at checkout. It took more than 30 minutes for staff to sort it out with management while our driver waited. This didn’t feel like a five-star luxury stay. The security breach, poor communication, staffing shortages, food, and billing all fell short of what the property markets and charges for. Travellers should take these issues into account.
