I planned to stay 12 days, but ended up extending twice and spending 3.5 weeks at Casa Cinco Patios, from November 18th to December 13th. It was one of the most exciting and memorable trips of my life. Say hi to Antonio and Lecha, and don’t miss those spectacular sunsets. I usually travel solo because I like the freedom to go where I want, when I want, and to get a feel for how local people live. I’d heard so much about San Miguel de Allende from friends and books, and this stay gave me the local feel and amenities I was hoping for. The house sits on a hill overlooking the city, with everything close enough to walk to. I felt safe the whole time and usually chose to walk, though taxis were easy to catch day or night if I didn’t want to go down or back up the hill. After a day out, I loved relaxing at home and watching the sunsets over the city and mountains. I live in a spacious one bedroom condo in New Orleans’ French Quarter with a lovely courtyard off my balcony, and Casa Cinco Patios still made me feel like I had everything I could want and more. The views from the hill are something special.

Alejandra makes the best breakfast, and this is a great place to stay. The room gets really hot in the afternoon, though. At least the double curtains mean you can keep the doors open without losing your privacy.
