Villa El Morro

I’d definitely come back with friends when I’m in Zihuatanejo. It’s a lovely hidden spot in the hills, with a great price and more than I expected. I really enjoyed my ocean-view room, the balcony, and what felt like a mini kitchen. In late January and early February, I watched the sunrise and fishermen heading out and back. There were lots of fun, friendly guests, and the pool had a lovely view. The nearby bathroom was very clean. The rooms had nice materials, with a decorated sink and towel holders in the bathroom. The shower worked great, with hot water right away. Wifi was great, and the TV had all kinds of channels, including English ones. There was also a big fridge and freezer, coffee maker, microwave, and utensils. Downstairs, the mini bar restaurant has happy hour. People were sweeping the property and cleaning the pool, which looked much cleaner than pools I’ve seen at some expensive places. If you don’t mind walking up and down the hill, you can catch a ride that passes often or take a cab downtown.

For around $50, you get what you’d expect: a great pool overlooking the bay, a decent bar, and a nice view from every room. The downsides explain the two stars. There’s no air conditioning, and the bed had just one sheet. The microwave barely worked, taking more than 10 minutes to make microwave oatmeal. I could hear every rooster and dog in zihuatanejo all night.

We only had one night before our flight, and wish we’d stayed longer. The room was super clean and nice, the view was amazing, and the staff were friendly. Couldn’t ask for more. Definitely coming back!

We’ve stayed here on two separate trips and really enjoyed ourselves. It’s an economical choice, with clean rooms, very friendly staff, and all the equipment you need to cook for yourselves. If you don’t mind walking or taking a cab, the view over Zihuatenejo bay is stunning. A decent place.
