Bill and the terrace views were the highlights for us. He was polite, welcoming, and attentive, and the view was amazing. Casa de la Cuesta is only a few minutes from the plaza, which made getting around easy. The place was spotless, with distinctive decor and Bill's impressive mask collection. We took his mask museum tour and highly recommend it; his knowledge adds a lot to the experience. Breakfast was traditional and delicious. We had a really unique stay in San Miguel de Allende and would absolutely come back.

You need an appointment to see his mask collection, but it's well worth arranging. I bought an antique mask and his book while I was there. It's a special place to visit even if you aren't staying at the BnB, which looks wonderful. Such an exciting spot.

The art throughout the property makes this a wonderful place to stay, and some of it was made by Heidi, our amazing host and proprietor. Breakfast was a feast, with several courses to get the day started. There was even a surprise birthday cake for another guest. We had a great time here. Their mask museum holds around 1,000 masks from many local cultures, and it's truly spectacular. We'd definitely stay again if we return to San Miguel!

We felt lucky to spend time with Bill and Heidi, and left feeling we'd had a real privilege. Their museum is a hidden gem and deserves a couple of hours if you're interested in Mexico's indigenous cultures. It holds an extensive collection of masks used in ritual ceremonies, with excellent documentation. Bill has spent 30 years visiting indigenous communities, collecting masks and learning about their ethnology and role in ritual dance. Heidi, an art teacher and artist, has built close ties with local artists and artisans and introduced us to some of their work. Experiences like this are part of what makes San Miguel such a special place.

The building itself feels like a work of art, and the many rooms are beautifully decorated. We toured their home and saw how much care had gone into every part of the B&B. Bill and Heidi were passionate as they explained indigenous mask performances and showed us their huge collection of masks from across Mexico. Their knowledge was impressive, with lots of interesting and important historical context. We felt very welcome and would recommend a visit for people of most ages. It's an enchanting B&B with a museum included.
