Casa Quetzal

Our junior suite at Casa Quetzal had the feel of a 19th-century Mexican home, which I loved. The price seemed fair for what we got, and it suited our needs. The street was quiet and peaceful, and it took about six minutes to walk to Parroquia San Miguel. After a hot, sunny day in March, the room felt a bit humid, which I suppose comes with an old building. We opened the windows and switched on the fans, and felt comfortable within about five minutes. At night it got chilly outside, while the room stayed warm. Every worker I met was kind, attentive, and professional. If you like coffee shops, Ki’Bok is a nice little place one block away. I recommend it.

Our suite had plenty of room and felt cozy, and the place was beautiful and clean. Sarai and Paulina helped us get ready for a wedding in a hurry, even finding a needle and thread for a last-minute loose button. The valet service worked perfectly, and everything was close by. The customer service was great. Thank you, it was an amazing San Miguel experience.

It’s convenient for getting around Centro, with someone at the front desk all day and night, and the price was hard to beat. For a simple, no-frills stay, it works. The entrance and courtyard are charming, the staff are friendly, and the room was clean. There’s quite a bit of deferred maintenance, though. Our door didn’t shut properly, so noise came in, the toilet seat was loose, and the sink drained very slowly. They fixed the drain on the second day. There’s no central heating or AC, but when we asked, they promptly brought us a heater.

The rooms have a rustic, comfortable feel, and even at 30 degrees we didn’t need air conditioning. The nearby churches’ bells came through clearly, which wasn’t great in the early morning. Wi-Fi was very weak, and we had to find certain spots to get a good connection. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and it was clear they really wanted us to have a happy stay.
