Hotel Carmina

The location is hard to beat, right by the Parroquia and El Jardín, though you should expect the bells to ring throughout the day and night. If that bothers you, this may not be the right hotel. My room, number 7, was upstairs with a king bed. It was clean and spacious, and the window looked onto the courtyard restaurant. I liked the extra lock on the door, which made me feel safer. There’s no elevator, but staff helped with our luggage. The front desk and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. A couple of things were frustrating: I needed help with the safe twice, first because I couldn’t set a password and later when a battery came loose inside and it stopped working. The shower has no barrier, so water sometimes spread across the bathroom floor. It also took a while for the hot water to come through, and the pressure wasn’t strong. For a two-star hotel, though, it was a nice stay.
