The rooms at Meson Hidalgo were divine, with soft beds, rich linens, and a large bathroom with plenty of hot water for relaxing at the end of the day. Everything was set up for comfort, and the stay was memorable. Erica, the house manager, provided excellent service. Be sure to visit the perfumery on the bottom level, the scents are extraordinary. Highly recommend for a luxurious, worry-free stay.

I've stayed at Mesón Hidalgo three times, once in each of its three suites. The rooms are spaced well for privacy, and they're all charming. Juana is tucked away with a special terrace, Chana is grand and on the ground floor, and Su Hermana has a terrace location with a large patio for breakfast. We once booked all three rooms for friends and family, and everyone loved it. My favorite parts are the breakfast and the unbeatable location. Each morning there's a choice of fruit, granola, and yogurt, plus fresh juices and coffee. If you're used to air conditioning, keep in mind that many places in San Miguel don't have it. The hotel also has boutiques selling local goods, including Xinu perfumes and Laura Kirar's curated store. The owners are creative, well-travelled, and friendly. I loved hearing their stories about how the hotel came to be and their wish to keep its original bones. I've also really appreciated all my interactions with the staff, in person and through Whatsapp. I highly recommend supporting this locally owned small business. If you can get a spot here, you won't regret it. I've included some photos from my visits and of all the rooms!

As designers, my boyfriend and I loved staying in Laura Kirar's guest house. Her taste is impeccable, and every detail seemed carefully considered. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the location was perfect, and I even got to unwind with a hot bath in our room's tub. Meson Hidalgo is a great fit for anyone who cares about design and comfort in San Miguel.

San Miguel had been on my list ever since Travel & Leisure named it the World's Best City in 2017, so I finally visited for the first time in September 2022, traveling solo for my birthday. Staying at Mesón Hidalgo felt like a dream, almost like being carried to another era. I love thoughtful design when I travel, and every room is beautifully put together. With only three rooms, it was a cozy spot for a solo traveler. I don't think I saw another guest during my three nights, and only two rooms seemed occupied. It was so peaceful that I had a hard time getting out of bed each morning. I chose Chana, the largest of the sister rooms, and loved its 18-foot ceilings and the layers of color on the walls. The house is also perfectly located, just two blocks from el Jardín, the main square with the cathedral. Erica and the team answered all my questions over email and WhatsApp before I arrived, then helped arrange a taxi for my hot air balloon ride. They also suggested the tacos and tequila food walking tour on Viator, a great way to get to know town on your first day. I hope I can stay here again!

The first time I visited San Miguel de Allende, Laura Kirar, the internationally renowned interior and product designer who hosts at Meson Hidalgo, welcomed me with open arms. The complex is gorgeous to wake up in, and Chana felt luxuriously grand, with beds and pillows I loved returning to after a day at local shops and bars. The location is central, a block from the main plaza, Parroquia De San Miguel Arcangel, which is breathtaking at night and full of local festivities and nightlife. On my first day, I took a perfume workshop with Xinu, one of the regular vendors at Meson. I made a custom scent and met some new friends in the group. I had an incredible stay and can't wait to come back!
