Hotel Casa Angelitos

Roger and Rosana were so hospitable, and Laura at the front desk made us feel at ease as soon as we arrived and took care of every detail. We loved this beautiful inn and will definitely stay here again when we return to SMA. Five stars!

Casa Angelitos feels personal, peaceful, and full of character. There’s fascinating art everywhere, and the patios, views, and lovely indoor and outdoor sitting areas make it easy to spend time relaxing around the hotel. It’s clean, comfortable, and well cared for. The location is just outside the bustle of Centro Histórico, but everything is walkable. The catch is the uphill walk for a few streets, which can be a workout after a few drinks, lol. Roger, the owner, made us feel like family and knows the area inside out. He also makes amazing hot cakes. We really enjoyed getting to know him. On our last day he arranged an opera singer to perform for guests after breakfast, such a thoughtful surprise. Laura was just as kind and helpful, always ready to assist. Breakfast each morning was fantastic, so there was no need to rush into town. We could sleep in, eat, then head out exploring. This place is a true San Miguel gem, and we'd happily come back. See you again, your Kansas City friends, Sara and Craig!

The house itself is huge and beautifully appointed, with thoughtful details, terraces, and stunning views of San Miguel de Allende. It's on a hill, about a brisk 15-minute walk downtown, which was fine for us. Sometimes we walked back and sometimes took an Uber, both easy enough. What let the stay down was the service, which was often absent or indifferent. The receptionist didn't ask how things were going or offer ideas for places to go or things to do. It wasn't our first time in SMA, but she still could have made an effort. The breakfast we'd read so much about was inedible and disappointing, except for the first day, when we requested an early meal and someone else came in to prepare it. We stayed four days but only had breakfast twice, and nobody asked why. We also had hot water problems. On the first evening I had to shower in cold water. The price doesn't feel justified by the service, so next time we'll stay somewhere else.

Our stay was heaven, thanks to Roger, Rosanna, and their skilled, accommodating staff. This place was a dream. If you're lucky enough to get a room, book this lovely hotel when you visit San Miguel.
