La Casa del Cheff

The rooms are tiny, and it’s expensive as hell. The bathroom is shared.

It looks nice.

The room was clean, but the bed wasn’t very comfortable. I got a stiff neck, though maybe that was a coincidence. What really spoiled the stay was being woken up three times, at 1:30 AM, 3:00 AM, and 3:30 AM, when people rang the bell to be let into the B&B. There’s no reception at night, so opening the door means waking everyone. The building has no soundproofing, either, so you’re left hoping your neighbors sleep in. It’s on the outskirts, meaning you need to drive or take public transportation to get to the center, and there’s no parking, only street parking. Bathrooms are shared, and the lamps are fake, with no bulbs or even outlets. I also found the decorations questionable: two Rottweiler statues greet you at the entrance, and the foyer mannequins look disturbing, with giant mirrors making them visible from around the ground floor. You get what you pay for. If your main goal is a weekend in San Miguel de Allende for $600 for two, this may suit you. It looks nice in photos, but being disturbed over and over at night takes away the charm. I’d look elsewhere.
