Suites Santo Domingo

The service was excellent, and having secure, free parking was a real plus since that’s not common in SMA. The hotel sits on a steep hill, which didn’t bother us, though it could be hard if you’re not used to hills. The garden and courtyard are gorgeous, and the quaint rooms were clean. With the windows cracked open, our room stayed cool during the day and warm at night. The water pressure was a little low, but there was plenty of hot water. If you’re after an authentic Mexican hotel, this is a wonderful stay.

The people running this place are lovely, and the rooms are cute and comfortable. It’s a stunning property on the hill with amazing views. I’ll stay here again next time.

You do have a pretty steep climb getting back from the center, but this was easily the most memorable hotel we saw on our trip in Mexico. It’s in an old building about a five-minute walk from the old town, with its own enclosed, free parking and very polite, helpful staff. We stayed on the second floor, where a huge terrace with a beautiful city view led to our rooms. Our suite had two large rooms. Everything in it was very old, but beautiful and clean, and it felt cozy, as though everything had been prepared for us. You could feel the spirit of Mexico in every corner. I think this may be the best authentic hotel in Mexico.

It’s a quiet little place where you can really relax, and it’s only about a five-minute walk to downtown. The rooms have a rustic look, plus a stove, fridge, dishes, pots, pans, and other basics, so you can get groceries and cook if you’re staying awhile and don’t want to eat out all the time. The hills around the city make the walk back to the hotel quite a workout.
