Estoban and Sebastien made us feel at home from the moment we booked. They were such warm hosts that calling them hotel employees doesn’t do them justice. Estoban asked about dietary restrictions, accommodated my aversion to seafood, arranged our airport shuttle, and gave us great restaurant and neighborhood tips. I came to San Miguel for a wedding and booked close to the date, so I’m shocked this beautiful place was still available. The breakfasts were awesome, and the location was perfect. I loved all the design details, from the colors and dishes to the rooftop herb garden and bedroom textiles. As someone who loves decorating, I was obsessed with it all, and Estoban even told me where some pieces came from. Breakfast on the roof, where there’s also a pool, was incredible, especially the eggs Benedict. It’s a cool, central, beautiful place with a homey feel. I’m already thinking about renting the whole place for a low-key bachelorette party next spring.

The hotel’s atmosphere was wonderful, and Sebastian and Esteban, who run it, made every part of our stay feel outstanding. We loved the beautiful lobby, the evening cocktail hour, and those amazing breakfasts served each morning on the rooftop lounge. There’s also a gorgeous rooftop lounge with a heated dipping pool. The decor and design are stunning, with a modern, luxurious feel that’s still welcoming. It’s within easy walking distance of everything. We’ve never had a better hotel experience, and after staying here in San Miguel, nowhere else could compare. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Right in the middle of the city, The Brooklane feels like a beautiful, tucked-away oasis. The rooftop is amazing, with a hot tub, and the hosts are great.

We got lucky with the weather in stunning SMA, with several sunny days even though rain had been forecast the whole time. Estéban checked in on us and kept umbrellas by the door. That kind of care was typical: as we left for the airport, he brought coffee and tea to our room while we packed, then made us takeaway boxes with the most delicious croissant sandwich and other pastries. He was also full of useful tips about SMA, including restaurant suggestions and what he personally orders. When we mentioned wanting tamales from the market, he found some for us the next day, and Monica, his lovely staff member, warmed them up for us by the pool. He even ran over early one morning to get us passes for the Rosewood, since they tend to sell out. We spent five days at the brand new B&B, The Brooklane, and Esteban’s hospitality was unparalleled. It’s perfectly central, within a 15-minute walk of everything, yet sheltered from city noise like a sanctuary. The style is sleek and beautiful but also warm and comfortable, with outstanding detail and craftsmanship. The rooms had everything we needed and more: luxury bath products, fluffy robes, and a thoughtful birthday card with lip balm and homemade biscotti. Custom glassware, deluxe bedding, and expert framing on the wall art all added to the decor. It’s techy, with keyless entry, but still very warm and colorful. We loved the dipping pool and rooftop so much that we chose to lounge there on two days instead of going out. We started calling him “Esteban Stewart.” His breakfasts were works of art and delicious, from homemade brioche French toast to homemade pita with shakshuka. He asked about our beverage preferences before the trip and brought what we liked each day, with touches like homemade sugar-dipped lavender, fresh-squeezed juices, and every extra milk option: oat, almond, and coconut. The stay made our time in SMA that much more special. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. 10/10.
