Our wedding here in late February was a great experience. Magnolia handled the planning and was kind and helpful throughout. The gardens were beautiful and worked perfectly for our intimate celebration of 53 guests. A small back garden was just right for the ceremony and string trio, and the food was delicious, nicely prepared, and generous. Service was friendly and attentive. We were very pleased with our choice of venue. Communication was slower than we'd have liked at a couple of points, and I wish the grass had been in better shape, though events there probably make upkeep difficult. The garden lights come on at night and help hide the patchy lawn, making the place even more charming and magical. We got lots of compliments from our guests. Thanks to all the staff for helping make it such a beautiful celebration!

My family and I stayed here for three nights as part of a wedding package, and we left wishing we'd chosen another venue. The wait staff and bartenders were welcoming and hospitable, the one redeeming part of the place. Jesus, the bartender, was wonderful and honestly the main reason the wedding succeeded. He quit on the night of the wedding because of how he was treated. My experience with Tres Fuentes Boutique Hotel's owner, Maria Vazquez Plaza, was awful. She was rude and unprofessional, insulting and condescending, and I felt she lied and stole from us. Any time we raised a concern or asked about wedding logistics, she acted like she was doing us a favor. I saw her dismiss and mistreat my wife, who was planning her brother's wedding, when she pointed out inconsistencies and misstatements. Maria became defensive, said she would no longer discuss the schedule or details with my wife, and repeatedly threatened to call the police if we kept challenging how we were treated and the lack of accountability for missing services and incorrect charges. Several staff members told us this behavior wasn't unusual and that she was known to be very rude and unprofessional. For the nightly price, the hotel offers very little. The rooms have no phone or menus for ordering from the restaurant downstairs, and are as bare-bones as they come. Restaurant food was mediocre, and the coffee was cold several times and tasted like water. Apart from the garden, there was nothing special about the hotel, and you can find a garden at most boutique hotels in San Miguel de Allende. Believe the bad reviews and spend your money elsewhere.

The photos make Tres Fuentes Boutique Hotel look charming, but our experience there was deeply upsetting. My brother’s wedding in San Miguel de Allende became stressful from the start: María kept changing deadlines, ignored messages, and tried to bill us for desserts we hadn’t ordered. When we raised concerns, she was rude and dismissive. At the wedding, she insulted family members in vulgar terms, rolled her eyes at ordinary requests, and yelled at and belittled her staff in front of guests. She also charged guests for things they hadn’t used. Afterward, she kept our $1,000 cash deposit, claiming items had been broken that nobody had seen. When we asked about paid services we never received, including coffee and tea, she threatened several times to call the police. I’ve never had a worse experience. I wouldn’t recommend booking this venue for a wedding or any special event in San Miguel. The way María handled everything showed no care, honesty, or professionalism.

The property has a lot of history and is beautiful, but the owner’s conduct overshadowed our stay for my sister-in-law’s wedding. The staff who helped with our stay, ceremony, and reception were fantastic. Jesús, Javier, Jose, and Juan were attentive, generous, and professional, and clearly cared about the newlyweds’ day. Maria, the owner and acting manager, was a different story. When we tried to explain what we needed for the wedding, she responded with insults, foul language, defensiveness, and threats. The next morning, she refused to return the couple’s $1000 deposit over one broken glass. A staff member had accidentally broken it, accepted responsibility, and asked her to return the deposit, but she still refused. She then made vulgar remarks to the family and threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave. Staff told us this treatment of guests and employees wasn’t new, and that they were looking for other jobs because of her behavior and lack of integrity. In my view, the staff and guests deserve better, and the property’s history and upkeep do too. I hope the place succeeds, but the owner should step aside for someone with dignity who truly cares about it. I’ve never left a one-star review before, but I couldn’t leave this untold.

The place looked beautiful at first, but seeing how the owner, María, treated my family, including the bride and groom, and her own staff was disgusting. There was a serious lack of professionalism, and she clearly doesn’t know how to run a business or a wedding. I was visiting San Miguel de Allende for the first time, and there are plenty of beautiful places that offer wedding services. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else, not Hotel Boutique Tres Fuentes.
