We were just lying quietly on our towels in the sand, with no music playing. There was nobody else on the beach when the manager came over and made us leave. They threatened to bring dogs and said they wouldn't lift a finger if the dogs bit or hurt us. The beach is public for its first 20 meters under the Ley General de Bienes Nacionales, but the hotel acted as though we had no right to be there. They threatened to harm us if we didn't leave that public stretch.

We had the master bedroom, and it was stunning. There's also a turret-like room at the very top and several other large, nice rooms. I think at least one is smaller, with twin beds. I've never stayed in a more beautiful private rental. The house and location were unbelievably beautiful, spotlessly clean, and fresh, with lovely little spaces for being alone or spending time with friends. The pool was delightful, around half the size of a full Olympic pool. We turned off the lovely garden lights to see the stars and Milky Way, and it was the best view anyone in our group had seen in decades. The staff were up before dawn to groom the beautiful beach, and kept the house and grounds looking brand new. Since the house is secluded, you should rent a car. I worried the road would be awful, but the road through the biosphere was better than the one in Tulum. The prepared food was good, not great, but perfectly fine.

There are lots of rooms and a full kitchen in this really cool house. Having a pool right beside the ocean seemed a little odd to me, but it made me feel like a kardashian.

The house is fantastic and right on the water. Getting there means dealing with a rough, potholed road, but the house is worth it.
