The staff were wonderful, always smiling and very helpful. The location and facilities were great, but several problems took this down to three stars. The pool and hot tub time we’d been looking forward to after diving was spoiled by other guests. In the hot tub, one guest was drinking heavily and being loud and rude with two prostitutes. The space became so uncomfortable that we and another couple left while they laughed. At the pool, drunk guests were loud and abrasive and ignored the tranquil atmosphere other people were trying to enjoy. One person passed out in the common area, while her partner spent over an hour loudly trying to wake her so they could keep drinking, splashing water on her and ordering more margaritas. Other guests felt uncomfortable and left the pool. The next day those guests were back, with margaritas flowing and the same loud, obnoxious behavior. Since we’d paid more for the upgraded part of the hotel, we expected management to address this right away. We missed the spa and pool time we’d been anticipating. We were also upsold to the “unique” hotel when booking, at quite a bit more expense, and expected a real difference. But it was the same hotel, with the same facilities and view, so the upgrade felt unnecessary. We were told all taxes and fees were included, including the “cozumel hotel tax,” but at check-in they said there was more tax to pay plus a mandatory 10% service fee. We had to run the card again, even though we’d specifically been told everything was included. Breakfast was underwhelming for the price, with little variety and coffee that could have been much better. The hotel was described as smoke free, but guests smoked cigars on their balconies and the smoke blew toward our room, forcing us to close our balcony door several times. The Wifi was fast but open, so things like Netflix wouldn’t work, and it raised concerns about network security. The staff and facilities were great, but these issues affected our stay a lot. I hope management pays more attention to the atmosphere.

The rooms and pool were quite nice, and the hotel was very clean. The food, though, was bad, and the price didn’t feel justified. Beyond the beautiful nature, which wasn’t the hotel’s doing, there was nothing particularly special to offer. The service also felt very inhuman. I’ve stayed at five-star hotels before, and this was far from those experiences. The hotel staff knew it was someone’s birthday and saw that person crying over a broken leg and a ruined vacation, but did nothing. A receptionist told me I should feel delighted instead because I was staying at this hotel. That was cold. The hotel didn’t owe me anything, but the lack of even a small human gesture was striking. They were quick to overcharge for everything, but a high price alone doesn’t make a hotel good. I’d never come back.

The ocean view at sunset is hard to beat, and the hotel has a peaceful feel from the moment you arrive. We had a great stay overall, and the bathroom products smelled so good that I wish I could buy them there. I even used the bath gel for a bubble bath. My husband kept telling me I smelled lovely. The staff made us feel welcome. David and Marco were especially helpful to my husband and me, and Jorge gave us a warm welcome at dinner on our first night. Yessica and Marin were also lovely. We had a memorable first scuba dive with Island Divers Cozumel. Our instructor Padi was patient, kind, and fun, which helped us through our nerves. A few things made the stay less comfortable. The beds were very hard, and we struggled to sleep. The cabana beds felt more comfortable. There are only a few TV channels and no Netflix or other streaming. At the restaurant, several things on the menu were unavailable in one day: wontons, guacamole, and bacon. For a five-star hotel, I expected the ingredients listed on the menu to be on hand. We told the hotel it was our honeymoon, but nothing special was arranged, so I wouldn't count on extras for a special occasion. I booked the Jr. Suite in June for a late October trip and was assigned floor 3. There are only three of these suites, on floors 3, 4, and 5, so ask ahead if you'd prefer a higher one. We also came across the opening ceremonies for Dia de los Meurtos while walking around town. I wish we'd been there for the whole week to celebrate. All in all, a great experience. Thank you Hotel B Unique!

The rooms are nice and the pool is pleasant, but I can't recommend this place after the service we experienced. We've stayed in hotels and restaurants across more than 90 countries and have never had service this bad. It was hard to get a waiter's attention, and other reviews suggest we weren't the only ones. The waiters were rude, yet still expected a 15-20% tip for what felt like serving ourselves. Staff seemed to say no first whenever we asked for anything. At breakfast, a waiter told us they only had juice, even though other guests got juice and it appeared on the lunch board menu. We also found a Snickers missing from the minibar after housekeeping, though we hadn't eaten it. Reception said okay when we reported it, but we were charged anyway. We saw other people mention the same thing. It's not about the $2, it's that this seems to happen routinely. I'd avoid this place.

We love this part of Cozumel and have been coming here for decades. The snorkeling was better than anywhere else we've seen on the island, and the food, setting, service, and accommodation were all top notch. We plan to return. The problem was the air conditioner leak. Maintenance tried to fix it five times, but the ice bucket still filled several times a day. The constant dripping and slippery floor were nearly intolerable, and over our 10-day stay it even became a bit comical. I'm sure the hotel didn't want this to happen, but they couldn't resolve it. By checkout, paint and drywall were falling from the ceiling below the unit.
