Illa Cozumel

Cute hotel, a small pool, lovely outdoor space, and a great location. The staff were welcoming, and everything was clean. We slept through the noise with our loops, but the nearby clubs get VERY LOUD at night, so bring good earplugs. The reviews are right about that. As of 11pm, there’s no one at the front desk until morning. You can walk north for local food or head south to the main square for tourist traps and expensive drinks. I can’t give it five stars because of the nighttime noise. Keep in mind hotels in the area have the same issue, and complaining won’t change it.

Diego and Antonio were so friendly and ready to help, and the hotel has a really pleasant feel to it. My room was clean, and the central location made getting around easy. The nearby bar can make weekends a little noisy, but the hotel provides earplugs and they worked well for me. I'd recommend staying here in Cozumel.

We had a great time here, and the team was lovely. It's about five minutes from the city center, so getting around was easy, and check-in and checkout were smooth. The rooms are comfortable, with some having terraces, and there's a small pool, loungers, a cushioned hangout area, and a little spot for coffee, water, and biscuits. There's no restaurant, and the simple breakfast is cookies, fruit, and coffee. It can also get expensive during holidays. The thing to know is that a nightclub is right next door. We stayed Sunday and Monday, and on Sunday the music went on until at least 3 AM. It was extremely loud, almost like being beside the dance floor, and some guests couldn't sleep for hours. That noise would keep me from giving it five stars. The pool is too small for much swimming, but Illa Boutique Hotel is a cute mix of a fancy Airbnb and a regular hotel.

There are restaurants all around, and the hotel is just two blocks north of the square. We ended up staying here because the Coralia was full that night, though both hotels are run by the same chain. We actually preferred these rooms, since they felt more spacious. The street is covered in gritty construction dust right now, so you have to walk through it and the air is dusty. I'd guess the work will take another year to finish.
