I’ve stayed here twice, in 2017 and again in 2025. The grounds are lovely, and the rooms are fun, each with its own theme. They turned an adobe ruin into the hotel it is now, which is impressive. It’s within walking distance of the ruins and the rest of town. Mototaxis, or tuk-tuks, are everywhere if you’d rather ride. I’d definitely recommend taking one. It’s the best hotel in Mitla, though there aren’t many.

The pool was clean and the staff were friendly, but the hotel felt overpriced and could have been cleaner. There were no towels in the room at first, and they only gave us two for four guests. One bed was missing a pillow cover.

The hostel has great facilities, including brand-new, spacious showers, dorms and a kitchen, plus a rooftop that’s perfect for relaxing. The owners were the best part, though. Rodrigo, his mother, and Mario went out of their way to help me sort out some problems. The place is already incredible, but the staff make it priceless.

It looks like a very nice hotel, but the price is much higher than similar places in towns around Oaxaca. Too many things don’t work as they should. At this price, the hot water ought to work without trouble.

There are only about two other people staying here, and when I asked to move to a room away from the street or upgrade, they said no. I hadn’t known that street parties happen every weekend in December, from 6 pm until midnight, with live music right outside the hotel. The rooms beside the cleaning closet, 111 and 110, smell of cleaning chemicals, and there are only six TV channels. It’s extremely overpriced. Stay in Oaxaca. Don’t stay in Mitla.
