City Express by Marriott Queretaro

The free breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is really convenient. Some rooms could use floor and A/C maintenance.

It was hard to rest here. There was a lot of noise inside the hotel, the hallways and room felt humid, and the pillows were horrible. You can tell the rooms are old, but that wasn't a major concern for me. The parking entrance card reader worked only sometimes, and usually failed. For the price of the night, it just wasn't worth it, honestly.

I redeemed a free night here using 6000 points. At check-in, I asked whether my Titanium Bonvoy status could get me a larger room. The receptionist said yes, but that I had to cancel my existing booking and make a new one because they couldn't cancel it on their end. I canceled and then booked again with another 6000 points. There was no warning that canceling would cost me the original points, and those 6000 were not returned as they had confirmed. They then told me to contact Marriott Corporate myself. But Marriott customer service said the hotel handles cancellations and points refunds. Dishonest business. Be aware.

I booked with points, which cost very little, and checkout isn't until 1 pm. The front desk staff spoke Spanish to me but understood my questions in English. The fitness center was okay, and the breakfast was better than the average American one, with coffee and tea available in the lobby. But the mattresses weren't Marriott quality, unfortunately. Despite my high elite status, I didn't get an upgrade because I'd paid with points.
