Casa Makawe - Adults Only

We went to Casa Makawe at the end of August 2025 and had a wonderful time. It was meant to be rainy season, but it only rained on two evenings. Watching those storms from our room’s rooftop or balcony was great. In the off season, the place was nearly empty, and the rooftop pool felt like the best private spot in all of Sayulita. Working remotely by the pool was a real treat. The location worked well for us: a few blocks from the beach and downtown, but quiet enough at night that we slept really well. The hosts were lovely and easy to reach with questions or for recommendations. There’s also a cute restaurant downstairs, handy for a quick bite when we wanted to stay in. Our room was clean and the A/C worked great. A few small things could be better. The water didn’t get very hot, though that mattered less in the warm weather. The A/C shut off overnight and didn’t come back on automatically. The kitchen had limited cutlery and extras, but enough basics to make breakfast and reheat leftovers. We’d recommend Casa Makawe to anyone coming to Sayulita. Gracias!

The apartment was quiet at night and roomy, with a well-equipped kitchen, so it seems especially suited to longer stays. Communication with the host was good, and street parking was available. We paid 1700 per night. The experience was positive despite a few quirks: the elevator may malfunction over its four floors, the A/C timer shuts it off for two hours at night and it can get warm, the towels smelled odd, and ants appeared in the kitchen now and then. There were only two worn pillows, and four would be better.

I loved the rooftop pool, and having breakfast delivered up there was great. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the location puts you close to everything while still staying quiet at night. Juan was an excellent host and always quick to reply. I’m obsessed with this hotel and would stay again whenever I’m in Sayulita. 100% recommend.

We had an epic birthday weekend with our group at Casa Makawe. Aaron went above and beyond to make it special. The spacious, beautiful rooms had everything we needed, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The rooftop pool and bar area was a perfect place to hang out. It’s also conveniently located, within walking distance of just about everything in Sayu.
