Fairfield Inn Suites By Marriott Guanajuato Silao

I was here for 45 days on business and am a Marriott Bonvoy member. The staff were attentive, quick, and professional, and the front desk treated me well throughout, though they weren’t flexible. The breakfast buffet was consistently satisfying, with scrambled eggs, pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM. My spacious room was well furnished, with a comfortable medium-to-firm bed and decent sheets. The free laundry room, with two washers and two dryers, was a great perk for a long stay. The ironing board was flimsy, the iron basic, and the safe usually worked but could be unreliable. Towels were clean and available, though worn. Cleaning was inconsistent: carpets needed better vacuuming, hand soap and towels weren’t always replaced, and housekeeping could still be going after 4pm. The hallways were often messy on weekends, and I saw a small cockroach near the lobby coffee machine. The main problems were the AC and hot water. Even on full cold, the room stayed above 25C during the day and only reached 22C at night. Hot water was usually okay, but there was none on the mornings of may 9,10,11. Update Nov 14: only warm water at 6am. The staff seemed to be trying, but unreliable AC and hot water, along with the aging amenities and cleanliness issues, undermined the stay. Maintenance needs to improve for the property to meet guest expectations.

For business travel where your end date isn’t fully confirmed, I wouldn’t recommend this place. My job changed, so I won’t be staying, but they charged me for three days and said the booking was prepaid. I’ve never had that problem at another Marriott, and I won’t stay here.

The food was awful and undercooked. I asked to speak with a manager, but kept being told they’d contact me. Both refrigerators they sent never got cold, and the internet was terrible. They also said they had no tech support. This was the worst Marriot experience I’ve had, and I’ll never stay here again.

The staff were amazing, and breakfast was fresh and enjoyable. There’s a nice gym, and the shared building also has a very nice steakhouse, a seafood restaurant, a chillis, and an oriental restaurant. The clean hotel itself was nice too. My only complaint was that the room AC was turned off during the day, so it was 30C when I came back in the evening.
