Hotel La Privada

A cheap place to stay overnight.

The staff were friendly, and the rooms, sheets, towels, and other facilities were all very clean. The beds were comfortable, with a mix of firm and soft pillows. There’s both a pool and a wading pool, plus a bathroom and changing room with a shower nearby. A grocery store is right across the street, and there’s a restaurant a couple of blocks away. The hotel has Wi-Fi, but it didn’t reach room #17.

There’s a store and taco stand across the street, with an Oxxo convenience store about 5 meters away. The room itself was very nice, the hot water worked, and the AC worked except for the units by the beds. My main complaint was how extremely hard the beds and pillows were. I couldn’t get a good night’s sleep.

They ask people to stop using the pool or palapas to grill meat and play music at 10 pm, which I thought was good for keeping the other guests from being disturbed. The rooms were clean, though we did see a couple of creepy crawlies. With the humidity and climate, that’s understandable and wasn’t a big deal. There’s a well-stocked store across the street and an Oxxo convenience store nearby. I’d give the stay a solid 8 out of 10. The mattresses and rooms could be improved a little, but the value for money is excellent. I recommend the Mexican-style quesadillas close by.
