HS HOTSSON Hotel Tampico

For a short stay it was okay, and the bed was quite nice. My room's WiFi worked great too, and there are a few excellent restaurants nearby. Still, Tampico has few five star hotels, and HOTSSON feels dated, more like a 3.5 star place at best. The rooms are tired and inconvenient, with a loud but effective air conditioner, a tiny bath and sink, too few power outlets, and no soundproofing in the doors. Cleaning standards were really low as well. Breakfast felt too local and ran inefficiently: they asked for my room number twice and forgot orders. The cheese pastries were fantastic, though.

The parking guard was condescending, and an espresso at the restaurant cost $8. During my three night stay, the Wi-Fi didn't work and they forgot to clean my room. They also failed to pick up my laundry, and I had to keep chasing them to get it done. It was expensive. Go to the Marriott!

I found a place where I could drop in for a very good martini. They let me park out front, though visitor parking seems to be in the garage around the corner. I'll need to ask next time whether they validate parking.

I loved having the sliding doors open onto the courtyard, with the pool right there. There was lots to walk to if I wanted to wander and see the sights, and security at the parking entrance made me feel my vehicle was safe. The price was right, and the food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I loved this place and plan to visit more often. It's now one of my five favorite places to go.
