We stayed four nights in June in this small hotel, which has 6-7 rooms around a central courtyard. The old building is well designed without being overdone. My room faced the street with a balcony, and the street noise was noticeable during the day but died down at night. There are rooms away from the street if you want more quiet. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely designed. Violeta was there during the day and was very helpful and friendly. No staff were on site after hours, but we had a key to get into the building. There isn't a restaurant on site, though there are plenty of options nearby. It's a great base for sightseeing Oaxaca, and the price was reasonable for what they offer. If you want a nice room in a central location and don't need all the hotel amenities, Casa de la Asuncion is a great option.

We felt like family here and loved the sustainable approach. The accommodations are clean, and the rooms are beautiful, as is the clean, comfortable lobby. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to find us another place to stay when availability meant we couldn't extend our booking. The owner's daughter Mariana is wonderful, and we'll be back!

The suite we had worked especially well for a large family, with two rooms and two queen beds in each. The hotel is right in the heart of Oaxaca, and everything is within a five-minute walk. The staff are very friendly and speak perfect English, and the cleanliness and service are top-notch. An amazing boutique hotel, definitely one of the highlights in Mexico. I'll definitely return.

We came here in January for our first stop in Oaxaca. Being right downtown, it sits about equally between the markets and the downtown shops and restaurants, making it a great starting point for exploring. The hop-on, hop-off buses are around the corner if you want an overview of the city, though we didn't take one this time. The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed having a balcony, and there's a small plaza nearby where people gather in the evenings.

The location is absolutely amazing, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I'd recommend getting a room with a balcony. We ended each beautiful day in Oaxaca sitting there and watching the busy street life below. Great hotel, and we hope to come back someday.
