The pool is tiny, and the hotel has a posted rule against diving. During my stay, a local guest who had been served alcohol by the hotel and his child were allowed to ignore that rule for hours, while staff watched the pool on surveillance cameras. Servers, housekeepers and receptionists were around, but nobody stepped in. I politely asked the guest to follow the rules. After that, he became hostile and made aggressive remarks, including telling his son to “aim for the French.” The child lunged at me. As I tried to protect myself, the father, who seemed clearly intoxicated, punched me hard in the face and gave me a mild concussion. Staff saw what happened and did nothing. We got no support or commercial gesture, and left right away, traumatized. The reception and room had been acceptable, but this became a frightening, humiliating and violent stay. I don't feel the hotel enforces its rules or protects guests. I especially wouldn't recommend it if you're not Mexican, since I don't think your safety is guaranteed.

The restaurant was excellent. I had the chilaquiles, and they were really good. I usually prefer eating at markets, but they let me check in early, so I chose breakfast there. The pool is small and better for relaxing than swimming, though they can turn on a heater to warm the water. I felt very safe. Guests wear a wristband for identification, someone is usually at the gate, and the front gate is locked in the evening, so reception has to let you in. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, especially the women at the front desk. Our room was spotless and spacious. The hotel sits between the bus station and the zocolo, about five minutes from the station. That's handy with luggage, since it's uphill. I can't recommend this place enough, and I'll return if I'm in Taxco again.

Free parking nearby and a nice view were both appreciated, as was the pool. The staff were helpful and friendly the whole time, and breakfast was tasty with enough variety. A pleasant stay, and I'd consider coming back.

The pool was very clean, though the water was quite warm, which some people might like. The hotel has beautiful views from several spots, and our king room had a balcony where we ate breakfast. The bed was comfortable, and the room came with a coffee maker, refrigerator, A/C and desk. The coffee was weak, just so you know. Léo and Fernando at the door were lovely and had good recommendations, and everyone else on staff was friendly too. The restaurant is a separate business, but we liked the food. Breakfast isn't included. The hotel is about five minutes uphill from the bus station, and another five-minute uphill walk takes you to the Zocalo. We stayed two nights and would happily return.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but the staff didn't make us feel welcome. We'd called well ahead and they were pleasant, offering to hold our room without the deposit they usually ask for. When we arrived, they refused our reservation and did little to help us find another room or hotel. It was a busy weekend, so we had to call around and hope we'd find somewhere. Such a disappointment. Pay the deposit in advance, even if they say it's okay to book without it.
