Hotel Montetaxco

The hotel is beautiful, but our stay was ruined by dishonest, disorganized service. When we arrived, the front desk quoted us $500 USD per night (9,000 pesos), even though we had called ahead and been quoted about $190 USD (2,995 pesos). The attendants wouldn’t fix it or help, so we had to sort it out online ourselves. Even then, it took almost an hour to get confirmation. They also denied us the dinner that our plan clearly included. The restaurant first said we needed vouchers from reception, but when we went back, the staff said dinner wasn’t included and offered no explanation. The attendants were rude, unhelpful, and didn’t seem to know their own prices. There was no courtesy or accountability. I wouldn’t come back or recommend the hotel, no matter how nice it looks.

I’ll definitely come back. This is one of my favorite hotels, mainly because the views are so good. You can see them from the balconies, pool, and restaurant, where they also have live dancing and music. The cable car view could be better, though it’s still great. The rooms were fine, and I wasn’t disappointed by the breakfast and dinner buffets, even if hotel buffet food rarely amazes me. The silver shop wasn’t expensive, though you can find cheaper things in the city. The shower was good, but the shampoo and shower gel were lousy, as usual for a hotel.

The hilltop setting is lovely and quiet, with panoramic terraces, spacious grounds, and wonderful views across Taxco. It’s a good spot to relax away from the busy town center. You’ll usually need a taxi or car to get up and down the hill, but the scenery makes the trip worthwhile.

The Sunday breakfast buffet was big and really tasty, and the staff were polite and helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with shops selling silver and clothes, and a locally famous cable car that goes up and down the mountain. It has plenty to keep a family happy. Taxco is a beautiful city, and the hotel has great views over all of it. I’d recommend staying here.
