City Express by Marriott Tepic

The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was nice, though not American style. When the WiFi wouldn't work, the front desk manager patiently listened while I tried to explain in my not-so-great Spanish. She smiled and answered in perfect English that they'd be glad to sort it out. They were puzzled for a couple of minutes, then found they'd given me the wrong login details. She handled the whole thing wonderfully.

City Express is easily one of the most accommodating hotels in Tepic. The location, price, reliable service, and overall dependability are hard to beat.

The room was small, and the queen bed was really a full. It smelled like sweat, the furniture was scuffed, and the air conditioner made an awful, annoying noise. Bring noise-canceling headphones. The place felt like a motel Marriott had bought, with nothing Marriott about it. At check-in, nobody greeted me. The staff member was curt and unfriendly. I asked about an upgrade because of my Marriott status, and she sighed, rolled her eyes, and pretended to check with management before returning to say none was available. I'd look for somewhere else and spend my money there instead.

I liked that the hotel says it's eco-friendly, and the rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and had all the services. The location is close to the airport, highways, and downtown, though I didn't care for it. Views from the first and second floors weren't great, but the higher floors were okay. Breakfast was decent with limited choices, and coffee was available all day. Internet worked well. There was only one American channel, but some of the movie channels had good English-language content.
