Think twice before booking. The location is good, but GPS made it hard to find and we had to ask locals. The internet was terrible and didn’t work in the bedroom, and the coffee was awful. Breakfast was a joke: three apple slices, half a strawberry, and a little granola and yogurt. Everything else was made elsewhere and cost extra, even with breakfast included, so you’ll still be hungry. Hot water only came on when the owner turned on the heater, which meant calling him before every shower. After this deception, we checked out twice and were told we’d get refunded for those two nights. That was all a lie.

We tried to cancel the second night because the stay was so uncomfortable. The hotel told us to contact the third party we booked through, our bank. After we did, they put us out of the room, saying the cancellation was approved. A month later there was still no refund, and we found out the hotel had declined it themselves. Getting here is tough. Even the local taxi driver had trouble, and the inn sits up a hill on stone roads. That’s common around town, but being isolated from the center made walking impractical. The bed was uncomfortable, the room was cold in December with no heat, and the bathroom was so tiny my knees nearly touched the wall on the toilet, and I’m only 5'01. It also costs more than nicer places closer to the center. There are less troublesome options in town for less money.

Two days before check-in, the hotel cancelled our booking for five rooms. The guests coming to our wedding in Tepoztlan were very unhappy, and this was the last thing we needed right before the wedding. Fortunately, we found a reliable hotel nearby.

The rooms are simple, nothing glamorous, but they do the job. Shower water wasn’t very hot, though in this climate it was fine. I especially loved the food and drinks: my favorite was the mango, orange, and strawberry smoothie, and all the food was 10/10. The pool was cool but just right for Tepoztlán’s hot weather. It’s quiet and peaceful, a great spot to disconnect and unwind. A beautiful, charming hotel.

Getting there by car is a little tricky at one point, but that’s part of why the area feels so peaceful, and I thought it was great. The location in tepoz is excellent, with everything reachable on foot. Everyone was super friendly, and breakfast at santo pecado is TOP. Two people can eat deliciously for 350 pesos. I’d definitely come back 💯🫰🏻
